About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and uContend LTD (company number 00112233), 10 Downing Street (we, us or uContend). They apply when you browse, create an account, follow sport, manage an organisation, team or competition, register a team, or buy a uContend plan.
You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you are under 18, you may make a paid purchase only with the permission of a parent or guardian who has authority to agree to it. If you use uContend for an organisation, you confirm that you may act for it.
The uContend service
uContend provides tools for discovering, organising, registering for, operating and presenting sports competitions. Features may differ between plans and may change as the service develops.
Organisers, not uContend, run their sporting events. They are responsible for event rules, eligibility, safeguarding, venues, insurance, scheduling decisions, officiating, safety, published results and communications with entrants.
Accounts and security
Give accurate information, keep sign-in details and recovery codes secure, and tell us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account by people you authorise.
Google or Apple sign-in is also subject to the provider's terms. We may require email verification, additional authentication or re-authentication to protect an account.
Content and public information
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give uContend a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process, format, display and transmit it only as needed to provide, secure, support and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for backups and records we lawfully retain.
Content deliberately published to a public competition, team, organisation or display page can be viewed and shared by anyone. You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and must keep it accurate.
- Do not upload unlawful, misleading, defamatory or infringing material.
- Do not publish another person's private information without an appropriate legal basis and notice.
- Do not use registration fields to collect special-category data or individually identifiable information about children under 16 unless uContend has agreed in writing.
Acceptable use
Use uContend only for lawful purposes. You must not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, probe for vulnerabilities, scrape the service at scale, impersonate another person, or use another person's account without permission.
We may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a breach, security risk, unlawful use, rights complaint or harm to other users. Where appropriate, we will explain the restriction and allow you to contact us.
Plans, renewals and cancellation
Individuals and organisations may buy one-off competition plans or yearly subscriptions. Prices, included features, billing period and applicable taxes are shown before checkout. Stripe processes card payments; uContend does not receive your full card number.
Yearly subscriptions renew at the price shown before purchase unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel through the Stripe billing portal; access continues until the end of the paid period unless we say otherwise.
Consumers buying online normally have 14 days from the initial purchase to cancel. Email [email protected]. We will honour all cancellation, refund and service-quality rights that apply by law. After those rights expire, a plan is not refundable merely because it has been used or is no longer wanted. Business purchases are non-refundable once access starts unless the law requires otherwise or we fail to provide the paid service.
Competition entry fees
A competition organiser sets its own entry price, registration questions and competition terms. Entry payments are processed through the organiser's connected Stripe account, with a disclosed platform fee deducted from the organiser's proceeds. The organiser is responsible for the event and its entry contract.
Where uContend's online registration flow states that a rejected paid application will be refunded automatically, the system will initiate a full Stripe refund when the organiser rejects it. Bank processing times are outside our control. Other withdrawals, event cancellations and disputes are governed by the organiser's published terms and applicable law.
Availability and changes
We take reasonable care to operate the service, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may perform maintenance, address security incidents, change features or discontinue a feature. We will give reasonable notice of a material adverse change where practical.
Neither party is responsible for delay caused by events reasonably outside its control, including internet or infrastructure failure, industrial action, natural disaster, public emergency or failure of a third-party service.
Ending access
You may stop using uContend and cancel a renewing plan at any time. Contact [email protected] if you need help closing an account.
We may suspend or close access for a serious or repeated breach, unlawful conduct, non-payment or a material security risk. Content and records may remain where needed for payment records, legal claims, fraud prevention, backups or the integrity of published sporting records.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot legally be excluded. Consumers keep all mandatory rights under consumer law.
uContend is not responsible for an organiser's event, sporting decisions, safety arrangements, eligibility decisions or organiser-supplied content. For business users, uContend is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings. Its total liability arising in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount paid to uContend in that period, except where the law does not permit that limit.
Organiser data processing
For personal data an organiser chooses to enter about registration contacts, referees, team representatives or other people, the organiser is the controller and appoints uContend as its processor for the duration of its use of the service. The subject matter is operating the organiser's competitions; processing includes receiving, storing, organising, displaying, transmitting, backing up and deleting the data.
uContend will process that data only on the organiser's documented instructions and as required by law; ensure authorised personnel are bound by confidentiality; use appropriate technical and organisational security; and tell the organiser if an instruction appears to breach data-protection law.
The organiser gives general permission for uContend to use subprocessors needed to host, secure, email, store and support the service. uContend will impose equivalent data-protection duties and remain responsible for their performance. We will provide reasonable notice of a material new subprocessor so the organiser can raise a justified objection.
Taking account of the nature of processing and available information, uContend will reasonably assist with data-subject requests, security incidents, impact assessments and regulator consultations. We will notify the organiser without undue delay after becoming aware of a relevant personal-data breach.
At the end of the service, uContend will delete or return organiser-controlled personal data on request unless law requires retention. We will provide information reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance and allow a proportionate audit no more than once a year, subject to confidentiality, security and reasonable cost arrangements.
- Data subjects: applicants, team contacts, referees, officials, staff and other people whose details an organiser submits.
- Data types: names, contact details, roles, team details, registration answers, correspondence, operational records and related technical logs.
- The organiser remains responsible for lawful collection, notices, accuracy, retention instructions and responding to people whose data it controls.
General
If a term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not transfer your agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a sale or reorganisation of the service without reducing your rights.
We may update these terms for legal, security or service reasons. We will post the new date and give reasonable notice of material changes. English law governs these terms and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any mandatory rights or right to use courts available under applicable law where you live.
